In reply to Bir E. Blackwell's letter of the 3rd instant (347,672) I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Kajesty's Treasury to state for the information of the Secretary of State that They have no power under the Superannuation Act 1892, and the Rules made thereunder to deal with the claim of Police Constable H. J. Wood in respect of the service rendered by him successively in the Bristol Constabulary, the Hong Kong Police, the Amoy Police, and the Metropolitan Police.

As the Secretary of State will be aware service in the second and fourth capacity 15 service in two "public offices" within the meaning of Section 1 of the Act, in as much as Hong Kong Funds and the Metropolitan Police Fund have both been declared "public funds" under Section 4 of the Act, but the constable'a e service in these two Police Forces was not continueus, and during his employment in the moy Police he was not paid from 9 "public fund".

My Lords would suggest that enquiry should be made of the Colonial Office in order to ascertain whether the local law permits any addition being made from the revenues of Hong Kong to this constable's superannuation under the Police Act.
